Padma Lakshmi Bio
Padma Parvati Lakshmi is a Chennai-based Indian woman who was born September 1st 1970. Lakshmi lost her parents when she was just 2 years old. To escape the stigma of divorce in India, her mother moved to the United States. Lakshmi lived for two years with her grandparents from Chennai before making the move to the United States. Both of her parents divorced later, and she now has a younger half brother and half sister from her father. Lakshmi is a woman who has a last name with the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity, grew up first in New York and then in Los Angeles with her mother and stepfather. She would visit India for a few months each year to visit her relatives. Padma Lakshmi became interested in acting in 1999.
