Natalie Dormer
(born 11 February 1982) is an English actress. Her accolades include winning an
Empire Award, and receiving nominations for a Critics' Choice Award along with
two Gemini Awards and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. Dormer was born in
Reading, Berkshire. She gained notoriety in the role of Anne Boleyn, a
character she played on the Showtime series The Tudors (2008), that earned her
acclaim. In Sweet Nothings (2010), she made her stage debut. She was also the
Duchess Of York in Madonna's W.E. (2011) as well as Private Lorraine in Captain
America the First Avenger (2011). The performance she gave in After Miss Julie
(2012) at the Young Vic was praised. Dormer was praised for her performances in
the show After Miss Julie (2012) at the Young Vic. Dormer also voiced the
character of Onica in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2018), Sara Price
Jess Price in The Forest (2016), and Irene Adler/Moriarty on CBS's Elementary
(2013)-15. The actress was recognized for her role as the lead in the
miniseries Penny Dreadful: City of Angels (2020). Dormer was born on 11
February 1982 in Reading, Berkshire (England), as the daughter of Gary Dormer
& Claire Richards. She is also the sister of Samantha Dormer and Mark
Dormer.
