Watts was born 28 September 1968. When her family moved to Australia in the
early 1980s, Watts made her film debut with For Love Alone (1986). Later, she
was a part of three television shows: Hey Dad.. (1990) and Brides of
Christ(91), and Home and Away (91) as well as Flirting (1991). Watts was a flop
as an actor when she first came to the United States. She acted in films of a
smaller scale and later was a professional actress. Her rise to global fame was
brought about by this role. Watts then portrayed a tortured journalist in the
remake of The Ring (2002). She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best
Actress for her performance as a grieving mother in Alejandro film 21 Grams
(2003). She continued to climb the ranks of the spotlight with her parts in I
Heart Huckabees (2004) and King Kong (2005) as in Eastern Promises (2007) and
The International (2009). Watts received nominations for an Academy Award for
Best Actress for her performance in The Impossible (2012) as Maria Bennett. In
the 2010s, Watts played in films like Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014) St.
Vincent (2015), While We're Young (2016), The Glass Castle (2017) and Luce
(2018). Watts also continued to play in blockbusters and appeared in the
Divergent franchise (2015-2016).
