Rachel Emily Nichols is the daughter Alison and James Nichols. She has English, French Canadian, German, Irish, Italian and Scottish ancestral roots. She attended and completed her studies at Cony High School in Augusta and competed in the high jump. Columbia University in New York City provided her with a double major in economics and math.
