Thora Birch
Thora Birch (born March 11 1982) is an American producer and actress. Her first film role was in Purple People Eater (1988) and she won the Young Artist Award for "Best Young Artistress under nine years of age". Birch was a child-star who was in films like All I Want For Christmas (1991) and Patriot Games(1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Monkey Trouble (94), Now and Then (1995) and Alaska (1996). She was awarded a Young Artist Award in the category of "Best Young Actress under Nine Years Old." In 1999, Birch played Jane Burnham in American Beauty. This film was a huge success and earned her a BAFTA nomination. The following year, she was a part-time actress in Ghost World (2001) as Enid. She was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Birch was nominated Emmy Award for her performance in Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story in 2003. Birch has also starred in Dungeons & Dragons (2000) and The Hole (2001), Silver City (2004) and Dark Corners (2006). She was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2003. Birch also played the role of Whisperer Maryas well as Gamma on the Walking Dead's Season 10. Birch was born in Los Angeles, the eldest child of Jack Birch and Carol Connors. Birch who's family included the surname Biersch is German-Jewish and Scandinavian. She also has French-Canadianand French-Canadian and Italian roots. [6] Thora is her birth name. It's derived from the Norse god Thor who is the god of thunder and lightning. If it were a boy, that would be her full name. Kian Bolt Birch is her younger brother. Both parents had roles in adult movies and appeared in Deep Throat. They were not keen to support Thora because of their experience in the entertainment industry. However, an infantsitter saw Thora acting out commercials, and convinced them to display Thora's photo to agents. Birch's first major break came at the age of four, after her babysitter brought her to auditions for a Quaker Oats commercial.
