Samantha Ponder Bio

Samantha Ponder (born December 11 1985) is an American sportscaster, who is also the host of Sunday NFL Countdown on ESPN. Ponder was previously a reporter/host on ESPN college football as well as a sideline reporter. Ponder was Erin Andrews' replacement on Saturday College GameDay at 10 AM ET on ESPN. She also hosted the Saturday edition at 9 AM ET of ESPNU. In addition to her duties in College Gameday, Ponder had been the main sideline reporter on ESPN's Thursday Night College Football with Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer, and David Pollack from August 2012 until 2014. Ponder was also a guest on the ESPN-owned regional network geared towards Texas called the Longhorn Network. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Ponder was a student at Central High School in Phoenix. Ponder first went to The King's College in New York City after graduating from high school. While in New York City, she applied for a hostess job at ESPN Zone where she met Ben Keeperman, a college football researcher and manager with ABC Sports Radio and that resulted in an internship with the station which led to a researcher-assistant job with ABC-TV on the show that focuses on college football. After Liberty's Senior Sports Director Bruce Carey offered her a role as a sideline reporter for the Liberty Flames television network, she transferred to Liberty University. She graduated in 2009 and worked as a sideline reporter for Fox Sports Net and Fox College Sports for Pac-10 and Big 12 college football and basketball games. ESPN's Longhorn Network, July 7 the 7th of July, 2011, announced Ponder as its sideline reporter. Ponder was one of three talent hires made by the company. She also worked with Lowell Galindo and Kevin Dunn. When she accepted her new position at the Longhorn Network, Ponder relocated to Austin, Texas.
