Kirsten Anne Powers Bio

Kirsten Anne Powers, who was born on 14 December, 1967 is an American author, columnist, and political analyst. Powers is currently a writer for USA Today and an on-air analyst at CNN. The Washington Post called her "bright-eyed and sharp-tonguedaggressive and combative". The New Republic noted Powers "held her own in any discussion" at Fox News and quoted columnist Erik Wemple, who called her "a ferocious advocate for her points of view". Powers was a Fox News contributor and political analyst before joining CNN. She appeared on Fox News's Special Report with Bret Baier, Fox News Sunday and The Kelly File, as in The O'Reilly Factor. Columbia Journalism Review described her as "an unapologetic liberal journalist". Mediaite described her as "Fox's liberal" to be reckoned with. "Powers previously served as an editor for the New York Post, and later The Daily Beast, which she quit to join USA Today. Powers began her column in The American Prospect, and her many articles have appeared in USA Today, Elle, the New York Observer, Salon, and the Wall Street Journal.Powers began her career as a staff assistant for the Clinton-Gore Presidential Transition Team in 1992. This was followed by an appointment as the Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Public Affairs under the Clinton administration from 1993 until 1998. Then, she became an official in the Clinton administration, a communications consultant, and political consultant.
