America Georgina Ferrera, a Honduran-American actor born on the 18th of April 1984, is the Emmy winner for her role as the principal character in Ugly Betty. She has also appeared in Real Women Have Curves and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Its sequel Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 and The Dry Land. In 2005, she played a small part in the skateboard biopic Lords of Dogtown. Additionally, she is voice actor, having voiced Astrid the Viking in How to Train Your Dragon. Ferrera was the first Latina ever to win in this category, winning an Primetime Emmy Award in 2007 for Outstanding Lead Actress Comedy Series. At the moment, she was only 23 years old. She is the youngest Emmy winner in this category. In the summer of 2007, she wrapped the filming of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 which was the sequel to 2005's film The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants as Carmen. She also voiced the character of one of the nature fairies in Tinkerbell (2008). The Dry Land, which was a premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010, was also shown at Dallas International Film Festival. It was awarded the Filmmaker Award For Best. Ferrera met Ryan Piers Williams for the first time when she was directed by him in a student film at University of Southern California. They were engaged in June of 2010. He surprised her with a ring worth $70,000.
